George Takei's Legacy Project: Crowdfunding Campaign

We went through many iterations of this appeal video; we knew that in order for it to be an effective centerpiece of the campaign it needed to not only clearly articulate the art and advocacy through line of George's career, but to strike an emotional chord in the audience. My team and I had shot and cut together three videos, each with a different angle for audience testing. Eventually we realized that the pitch would have to be retooled which meant that the entire thing needed to be re-shot and re-edited. Luckily for us, George Takei is a terrific sport and after another day of filming and many more hours in post-production we were able to launch with this video. The Indiegogo campaign went on to become the most crowd-funded theatrical project to date, raising approximately $500K
